日本でピックアップという言葉は、多くの場合「選び出す」という意味で使われていますね。それなので日本人は、

というように、英語で間違った使い方をしてしまいがちです。「選び出す」という意味のピックアップは和製英語なので、英語で同じような意味を表すためには、以下のようにpick outを使います。

上記の英文は、
私が着たいワンピースを３つ拾い上げた。
になりますが、

になります。
pick outの他には、selectという動詞も同じような意味を表せるでしょう。
今夜クラブでかける曲を、自分のレコードの中からピックアップした。

そして、英語圏でよく耳にするpick upの使い方は5つあります。
1. 車で迎えに行く

大きな石を拾って、壁の向こう側に投げた。
3. 風邪をひく
I picked up a nasty bug from the kids at school.
学校の子供から嫌な風邪がうつった。
4. 回復、復活する
The economy has picked up recently.
最近経済が復活した。
5. 買いに行く
Can you pick up some milk on the way home.
帰りに牛乳買ってきてくれる？

Your explanation “1 to 5 ” are easy to understand.
However,”pick up” has more meanings as you said.
The phrasal verb “pic up” is often used about Delivery service.
The definition is often used,too:
( Definition 6 ):
When you “pick up” something that is waiting to be collected, you go to the place where they are and take them away.
(E.g.):
・definition 6 🙁 at the general post office ) :
me: ” Do you have international sending mail
service like Courier?”
A:” Where is the destination? ”
me:” To Poland.”
A:”ABC Post is our international Courier service.

me:”Can I post it only via counter?”
A:”We have pick-up service as value-added

*In this case,”A” will pick it up (i.e.collect) .
